Business in Bloom: A New Way to Celebrate and Nurture a Dream

Starting a business is a lot like bringing a baby into the world—it’s messy, miraculous, and oh-so-deserving of celebration.
That’s the heart behind what my friend Sara Elbert of the Sunshine Community and I started calling the “Business in Bloom” shower: a heartfelt, joy-filled gathering to honor a woman’s new beginning in business. It’s part party, part pep rally, part sisterhood circle—and 100% celebration.

The Origin: Inspired by Baby in Bloom
Awhile back, I had attended a baby shower with the theme “Baby in Bloom,” and I was struck by how powerful it felt to gather with women to celebrate growth, nurture dreams, and offer support. What if we did the same thing for business launches?
So Sara and I threw one for our own businesses. There were snacks, games, cake, and confetti—but most importantly, there was love. And support. And tears (the good kind). We didn’t stop there. Since then, we’ve hosted several more for other incredible women stepping into entrepreneurship—and the ripple effect has been beautiful.

What Happens at a Business Shower?
Just like a traditional baby shower, a Business in Bloom shower is centered around nurturing something new. It includes:
Delicious food (because you can’t bloom on an empty stomach)
A gorgeous, floral-inspired atmosphere (think: symbolic growth!)
Connection activities to help women share their “why” and rally support
Support circles, where guests write down ways they can help (introductions, ideas, social shares, encouragement)
Games, like naming your dream client or vision boarding together

It’s not just about the business logistics—it’s about believing in someone before the success comes. It’s about planting seeds and watering each other’s dreams. It’s about saying: I see you. I believe in this. I want to be part of it.
The Power of Celebrating Women’s Dreams
There’s something sacred that happens when women gather. A Business in Bloom shower becomes a greenhouse for ideas. Women feel safe to share their excitement, their fears, their goals—and then they walk away with real, tangible support.
And the truth is: we need more spaces like that.

How You Can Host One Too
Want to host your own? Here’s a simple formula:
Pick a date and gather your people.
Choose a theme that reflects growth (florals, greenery, even butterflies!).
Plan for connection, not just content.
Ask guests to bring one way they can support the honoree.
Celebrate her as the founder, the dreamer, the woman blooming into something new.
Why This Matters
In a culture that often celebrates the outcome, this is about celebrating the becoming. Before the revenue rolls in. Before the Instagram following grows. Before the LLC is even official.
We’re shifting the narrative from “wait until you succeed to be celebrated” to “you’re worthy of celebration right now.”

Final Thoughts
There’s no blueprint for how to start a business, but when you have people showing up with flowers, food, and full hearts? It changes everything. And honestly—it makes the journey more fun.
So here’s to the ones who dare to bloom. To the women planting the seeds of their ideas and trusting that something beautiful is coming.

If you’ve ever wanted to celebrate your dream—or someone else’s—this is your sign. Throw the party. Call your community. Let yourself bloom.
